About the exhibition

Nineteen paintings in oil and acrylic, on canvas and on cut wood, carry titles such as Water, Ice, Glass and Shadow. Yang So Jeong starts from forms seen in water, ice and glass. The artist cuts their silhouettes from wood panels, coats them with gesso, then recombines these cut-out drawings on large canvases. The drawings float between the canvases as separate images, where earlier they gathered around canvases as one mural.

ROYGBIV is made from the first letters of the rainbow's colors, in order. The gallery's essay, by Park Jeong-won, links this to light refracted through water droplets and describes the forms shifting with changes in viewpoint. Each form stays a distinct unit instead of merging into a single image, and the links between them remain temporary.
