About the exhibition

"Environments" are artworks you enter rather than look at. Many of those made by women in the postwar decades were dismantled and left out of art history, so this show rebuilds them for each host museum. The original version was produced by Haus der Kunst in Munich in 2023 after three years of research.

At Leeum the show fills the Black Box and Ground Gallery with reconstructed work by women artists. d5 Magazine reports that you can touch, walk through or enter the works, and describes Judy Chicago's Feather Room. The Korea Times also names Aleksandra Kasuba's Spectral Passage (1975).

The Seoul version adds Korean artist Jung Kangja's Muche-Jeon, which press reports say is on view for the first time since it was taken down in 1970. It also includes Dream House by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi, which The Korea Times says is shown in Asia for the first time. A free digital guide is available in English; bring ID such as a passport as a deposit.
