About the exhibition

About 20 works by 18 artists come from the Seoul Museum of Art collection, across painting, Korean painting, craft and photography. Admission is free. The Nowon Foundation for Arts and Culture names Kim Tschang-Yeul and Park Seo-Bo, and Daily Art's captions include a 2010 Noh Sang-Kyoon canvas covered in sequins and a 2009 Song Hyun-Sook painting in tempera.

The word gyeol in the Korean title here means the texture that materials and repeated movement leave behind. Daily Art says the first room looks at how repeated work with paint, paper and other materials gives each surface its own texture. The second looks at how that texture comes to read as one image.

This is one of the district exhibitions the Seoul Museum of Art has run since 2013 to bring its collection to local cultural spaces.
