About the exhibition

These paintings show women in crowds and social settings who never quite blend in. UNAW Gallery says the paintings grow from quiet links between a figure, its setting and the things nearby, and that the women often gaze past the edge of the frame.

The gallery's listing on Art Insight calls this Jenya Datsko's first solo exhibition in Korea and says many of the 2026 paintings are being shown for the first time in Seoul.

Art Korea TV describes several of them. Unbearable After uses a social gathering to show loneliness among people. In Late afternoon in early May, a still female figure holds the center. A beautiful mistake shows a woman seated by a pool, lost in thought. Art Korea TV explains the title as the inner moments the figures keep to themselves.

About the artist

Jenya Datsko (b. 1991) is a Russian painter based in Valencia, Spain, who studied art and illustration at ESAT and GAIA Centro de Estudios de Arte. Art Korea TV reports a birthplace in a small town in western Russia. Gillian Jason Gallery describes invented, anonymous women in intimate or in-between settings, painted in a soft palette, and quotes Datsko on why women are the subject: "very emotionally strong." The gallery lists earlier solo shows in Madrid, New York, Shenzhen and London, including Crossroads (2024) and Short Stories (2025), and a 2023 Harper's Bazaar cover feature.
