About the exhibition
You will see about 80 original works by Giorgio Morandi, the Italian painter of bottles, boxes and vases. Seoul Shinmun and Asia Today report that count. News Culture lists 49 oil paintings, 15 etchings (prints made from a metal plate), 12 drawings and 6 watercolors in eight sections, with a 1924 self-portrait from the Uffizi in Florence shown in Korea for the first time.
Asia Today reports that key holdings of Museo Morandi in Bologna appear with works from other institutions and private collectors. Seoul Shinmun reports bottles and vases from the artist's still lifes. According to News Culture, tools come from the Bologna home at Via Fondazza 36, where Morandi lived and worked from 1933 to 1964: brushes, palettes, paint boxes and jars of pigment. Photographs show the summer house, studio and home.
Seoul Shinmun reports that the show follows an exhibition at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai and has been rearranged for Seoul.
