About the exhibition
MMCA's 2026 program calls this Do Ho Suh's largest solo exhibition yet. It fills Galleries 3, 4 and 5 on the basement level and the MMCA Studio on the second floor, and runs from early works and drawings never shown in public to current projects.
The route is not arranged by theme. Works from different decades sit side by side, as do drawings and installations, so ideas of home and body, space and time keep returning. Suh's own life between Seoul, the United States and Europe runs through it, with home treated as something that travels rather than a fixed place.
The audio guide points to Seed Bank, rubbings of homes in Seoul and New York, Perfect Home and Bridge Project. Look for Nest/s (2024), a work in polyester and stainless steel more than 21 meters long. The Korea Times reports more than 500 works, including 215 drawings, and says the show travels to MOT Tokyo and M+ in 2027.
About the artist
Do Ho Suh (b. 1962, Seoul) lives and works in London. The artist studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and sculpture at Yale, represented Korea at the 49th Venice Biennale in 2001 and is best known for sculptures in fabric that trace homes the artist has lived in. Exhibitions include the Serpentine Gallery (2002), Leeum (2012) and Tate Modern (2011, 2025). The Korea Times describes Rubbing/Loving: Seoul Home (2013–2022) in this show as graphite rubbings on hanji of the family's hanok in Seongbuk-dong.
