Heejoon Lee: Stems and Nodes
이희준: 줄기와 마디
About the exhibition
Kukje Gallery lists Stems and Nodes at K1 and K2.
Newsis reported in December 2025 that new work by Heejoon Lee would close the gallery's 2026 program in these two spaces. It said the paintings would borrow from the ways photography and sculpture are made, so that images from cities and buildings build into layers of time and space.
About the artist
Heejoon Lee (b. 1988, Seoul) lives and works in Seoul. Lee holds a painting and sculpture degree from Hongik University (2012), an MFA from the Glasgow School of Art (2014) and a Doctor of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University (2025). Kukje Gallery's first show with the artist, in Busan in 2022, included 20 new paintings from A Shape of Taste and Image Architect, plus four sculptures based on the paintings. The gallery says those paintings put layers of paint over photographs printed on paper and mounted on canvas. Other solo shows include Scaffolding at Kumho Museum of Art (2023).
